Amit Agarwal

Managing Partner
Regional Functional Leader CFO and Financial Executives, APAC

Amit Agarwal is a Managing Partner at Stanton Chase in India and Singapore, and Regional Functional Leader for CFO and Financial Executives, APAC. His career has drawn on two distinct worlds. Before moving into executive search in early 2004, he was a sports entrepreneur and among the pioneers of organized Twenty20 cricket in India. That entrepreneurial experience, which involved taking risks, making decisions with limited information, and learning what it takes to build a business, continues to influence the way he works with corporate leaders today.

Over the past two decades, that perspective has been complemented by a career in executive search and leadership advisory, during which Amit has worked on more than 1,000 CXO and board-level assignments across India, Singapore, and multiple global markets.

Amit advises boards, promoters, CEOs, and CHROs on executive search, succession planning, board advisory, executive assessment, and organization design. While leadership decisions are the visible outcome of his work, his approach begins with understanding the business itself. Every assignment starts with questions about strategy, ownership, culture, governance, and the future direction of the organization before conversations turn to candidates.

Amit understands the mindset with which entrepreneurs build businesses, the responsibility carried by professional managers entrusted with leading them, and the expectations of boards overseeing both. This allows him to bring different viewpoints together, helping organizations arrive at leadership decisions that are commercially sound, practical, and sustainable.

His work spans financial services, industrial, healthcare, consumer, technology, professional services, and several other sectors. For Amit, the success of an executive search is measured long after an appointment is made, and he believes a leadership decision succeeds only when it creates lasting value for both the organization and the individual.

Beyond client work, Amit contributes to discussions on leadership, governance, succession, and executive careers through research, industry forums, and thought leadership initiatives. He also serves on the boards of select organizations, bringing an external perspective to leadership, governance, and strategy.

His personal passion continues to be sports and talent and skill development.
