Stanton Chase International Chairman on Promotion at Henkel AG

The Wall Street Journal reports that for the third time in a row, an internal promotion from CFO to CEO is being considered for Henkel AG, a consumer goods giant and the maker of Dial soap, Snuggle fabric softener, and Right Guard deodorant.

Mickey Matthews, International Chairman of Stanton Chase, an international executive retained search firm, weighed in on the response by seemingly dissatisfied investors and analysts.

β€œ[W]hile a CFO-to-CEO elevation might be intended to convey an aura of stability and confidence, such promotions run the risk of underwhelming the market. β€˜The perception is that this a missed opportunity,’ Mr. Matthews said.”
