Marilena Varela

Marilena Varela is a Senior Consultant at Stanton Chase Athens. She has extensive professional experience across a range of industries and in executive search.

In recent years, she has specialized in the Shipping and Maritime sector, where she has managed a broad portfolio of clients and delivered senior and executive-level search mandates. Her track record and significant contribution to the growth of the Shipping practice in Greece have led to her recent appointment as Global Maritime, Ports, and Infrastructure Sector Leader.

In this role, Marilena focuses on strengthening collaboration across Stanton Chase, sharing market expertise, connecting opportunities, and further developing the firm’s Maritime, Ports, and Infrastructure practice internationally. She combines detailed knowledge of the sector with a commercial, client-focused approach and advises organizations on their key leadership needs.

Marilena holds a BSc in German Language and Literature from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and an MSc in Strategic Human Resources Management from ALBA Graduate Business School. She is fluent in Greek, English, and German.
