Executive Search and Leadership Advisory Firm in London, UK

Stanton Chase London has a distinguished history as a leader in executive search and leadership advisory services both in the UK and abroad.

The Stanton Chase London office in the United Kingdom has its roots going back to 1976. The past twenty-five years have seen many changes in recruitment and executive search practices. This has been especially true for this medium-sized, partner-owned and -managed office over the last ten years, as we have evolved from a primarily UK-based practice to one that is truly international in nature.

We are more than just headhunters; we pride ourselves on the close involvement of our senior consultants in every search mandate. Our specialist consultants, thorough research, and strong track record of delivering quality ensure a quick response and best-in-class candidates. We offer services in English, French, German, Polish, Turkish, and Bengali.

Executive Search

We are one of the top 10 executive search firms in the world with over 75 offices in 45 countries. Operating as a global boutique, we have the global presence and connectivity of larger executive search firms with the nimbleness and flexibility of smaller boutiques. This enables us to give high-quality care and attention to our clients and candidates who enjoy the best of both worlds—global coverage and capabilities with deep roots and local insights.

We are not restricted by prescribed ways of working which means that we are entrepreneurial and agile. We can adapt our style to suit each situation. We tailor our approach to every assignment. Furthermore, we firmly believe in starting each search from scratch rather than recycling candidates from previous searches. Our Partners lead and participate in all stages of the process. We are always hands-on in our approach and do not delegate responsibility to junior consultants or researchers.

We pride ourselves on our track record of delivery and believe that respect, honesty, humility, integrity, and trust are the key ingredients behind the successful partnerships we have with our clients and candidates. We are acutely aware that our interactions with candidates shape their perceptions of our clients. Therefore, we ensure candidates have a positive experience, whether they are successful or not, by challenging them, supporting them, giving them honest feedback, and encouraging them to succeed. Our judgement is always based on “how would we wish to be treated in these circumstances?” In fact, many of our long-term client relationships began as candidate relationships. Our strong base of existing clients minimises our “off-limits” and acts as a testament to our quality.

We are passionate advocates for purpose-led and ethical searches. We genuinely care about our clients and candidates. Our commitment to achieving the highest standards reflects this. We always aim to deliver exceptional work. We are not, however, afraid to question a candidate’s or client’s thinking when necessary. We are naturally curious, and we have a thirst for knowledge—people endlessly fascinate us, and we listen attentively to understand them, their motivations, and values. Our distinct blend of search and industry expertise helps to build trust and credibility and enables us to craft and communicate our client’s story to the market in the most accurate and compelling way.

Board Services

Board appointments reach the heart of every organisation, influencing strategy, change, and sustainable growth. Our specialised global board advisory capabilities offer services at board and C-suite level, delivering executive search and leadership consulting solutions, local insights, and strong expertise across industries.

It is critical to remain independent whilst deploying empathetic and human leadership to help shape an organisation’s future. As such, we strive for diverse longlists and shortlists in every search, treating each assignment as new without simply re-using the same candidates from databases or previous assignments. There is logic to this—if search firms continue reworking the same list of candidates every time they conduct a similar search, nothing will ever change. Boards and leadership teams are unlikely to become more diverse and ten years from now we will still be discussing the same challenges and wondering why nothing has progressed. This is also why we encourage our clients, where possible, to hire for potential. If we only hire people who have proven experience in a specific role or sector, we will never change that pool of candidates. We check our own unconscious bias and seek to embrace conscious inclusion to make sure that the assessment of the candidate is as objective as possible. We encourage our clients to do the same and to create diverse interview panels where possible.

We believe that by thinking and doing things differently we will achieve different and better outcomes.

Leadership Assessment

The world’s leading assessment tools have consistently proven to be the best predictors of workplace effectiveness. Both in support of executive search assignments and for ongoing leadership development, we provide solutions that help organisations better define the executive and leadership capabilities required to deliver their strategic goals and then assess leaders’ abilities to deliver them.

Our approach to leadership assessment involves triangulating data sources, including in-depth behavioural interviews and validated psychometrics, to more accurately predict fit for role and performance. Whether it be for selection or development, or pre- or post-close assessment, we balance rigour with relationship building. We frame the assessment as a developmental discussion and provide actionable feedback to the individual to immediately improve effectiveness. When recruiting, an inclusive approach to candidate assessment is not just a DE&I initiative, it is the answer to the problem.

We have deep international and multi-sector assessment experience and are certified in the use of the following tools, which comprise a research base of several million data sets, providing high levels of validity and predictability. These include:

  • Personality assessments
  • Numerical, verbal, diagrammatic analysis, abstract reasoning aptitude
  • Leadership impact
  • Organisational culture
  • Digital readiness
  • 360 feedback
