Georgios Doukidis is a member of the Athens Advisory Committee and a leader in the academic and technology fields.
He has been a Professor of Electronic Business in the Department of Management Science and Technology at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) since 2000. At AUEB, he has held various positions such as member of the board, chairman in the department of Management Science and Technology, director of the MSc in Management Science and Technology, vice director of the international MBA, and director of the incubator center (ACEin). As founder and director of ELTRUN (the eBusiness Research Center of AUEB), he led more than 35 international R&D projects, many of which include collaborations with renowned institutions such as MIT, Cambridge, LSE, INSEAD, EPFL, and more.
Georgios has published 18 books (10 with international publishers), more than 200 scientific papers, and has organized eight international conferences in the field of information systems. He has acted as guest editor seven times for leading international academic journals and has successfully supervised 20 Ph.D. students in the UK and Greece.
In the past 30 years, Georgios consulted for more than 50 large local or international organizations in areas such as digital transformation, innovation and business development, re-engineering and business strategy, business analytics, e-commerce, and FinTech.
Currently, he is the academic adviser of IELKA (the Research Institute of Retail Consumer Goods), board member of ECR Hellas (the FMCG and grocery association), member of the employment committee of the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, member of the advisory board of the Delphi Economic Forum, and member of the advisory board of EGG (the incubation center of Eurobank). He is the co-founder of Ennovation, one of the largest student competitions in digital innovation and entrepreneurship in Europe. He is currently a non-executive board member of the Athens Stock Exchange, Attica Bank, and Alumil (an international aluminum extruder).
Georgios holds a B.Sc in mathematics from the University of Thessaloniki, an M.Sc in operational research, and a Ph.D. in artificial intelligence from the London School of Economics (LSE), where he taught in the 1980s.
