Mike Atter is a Partner at Stanton Chase Johannesburg. He is a British national who has accumulated nearly 20 years of business leadership experience across the four continents on which he has lived. He has been living in South Africa (SA) for approximately 15 years.
Mike started his career in travel and tourism in North America in the late 1990s and then moved on to work in Australia for a few years. After that, he moved back to the UK to work in financial services recruitment in London in the early to mid 2000s. His success in financial services recruitment led him to heading up the African operations at Robert Walters for a few years. In 2011, he was approached to join Odgers Berndtson SA to help build their Life Sciences and Healthcare practice, and he worked there for two years. He later joined another SA-based executive search and transformational consulting firm as a Partner, where he worked for six years.
When the Covid-19 pandemic struck, and upon noticing the inability of the pathology sector to cope with the pandemic, Mike paused his executive search career to build a managed service provider to ease the testing shortfall across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Geography-History (Honours) from the University of Keele (UK). He has a passion for leadership development, agile thinking, customer excellence, and embracing new technologies to assist in alleviating the post-pandemic skills shortage that exists across Africa. He has always been keenly interested in connecting with people by learning new languages, with Arabic adding to his ongoing study of French and German.
