H. Edward (Ted) Muendel

As one of its Founders, Ted has been a
leader in the development of the Stanton Chase organization.
Altogether, he has been engaged in the executive
search profession for some 25 years and has experience
in building management teams for clients ranging
from early stage pre-IPO start-ups to large multi-nationals.
Ted's relevant career evolved at Allegheny Ludlum
International in various management roles and at
a leading general management consulting firm, Theodore
Barry and Associates in Los Angeles where he served
clients and conducted a wide range of marketing,
business planning and operational assignments. Ted
later served as Vice President/General Manager of
a consumer products company in California. He earned
his BA degree from Lehigh University and an MS with
honors from Northern Illinois University. He has
served as a Trustee of Lehigh for the past nine years
and has been recognized by his university for achievements
in global leadership. Ted currently serves on several
organizations' Boards.

Mickey Matthews
Managing Director

In addition to his work in the Baltimore/Washington
office, James M.(Mickey) Matthews has lead and dealt
with strategic marketing and technology issues for
both the North American region and Stanton Chase worldwide.
Though much of his practice is in the high-tech sector,
his experience at Stanton Chase has been generalist
in scope, and he has worked cross-functionally for
global clients in the manufacturing, hospitality,
and the not-for-profit/higher education sectors. Mickey
has successfully executed numerous senior management
assignments for computer software, industrial manufacturing,
Internet, telecommunications, electronics, IT services/solutions
and venture backed emerging growth companies.
He joined the practice after four years as a Senior
Associate with an investment consulting firm in Maryland,
developing and implementing financial strategies for
clients. Mickey has completed his training and qualifications
for a Series 7 NASD license. He is past President
of the Friends School Alumni Association in Baltimore
and is active locally in various leadership roles
for a number of organizations including the Maryland
Chapter of his University alumni association. An All-Ivy
League lacrosse player at Brown University, he achieved
All-American honors and captained the team his senior
year in 1985. Mickey received a B.A. degree in Business
and Economics, with distinction, from Brown University.
He also graduated Beta Sigma Gamma from the Fellows
Executive MBA program, Loyola College, Maryland in
1999.

John A. Helfrich
Director

John possesses significant business experience in diverse industries including Commercial and Defense Electronics, Shipbuilding, Automotive, Infrastructure Services, Fire Protection, Healthcare and Flow Control. His prior affiliations include Newport News Shipbuilding (Tenneco), Walker Manufacturing Company (Tenneco), Rockwell International, Mueller Holdings Corp. and Tyco International. These responsibilities included operations in Europe, the Americas, Asia, Australia/New Zealand and the United Kingdom. John was part of the senior management team which LBO’d Mueller, the North American leader in the water and gas distribution industry. Mueller grew its annual revenues from $180M to over $500M and sold the business to Tyco. As part of the Tyco senior management team, John was the senior HR executive for this global company. Revenue growth during this period grew from $1B to over $40B.
Since joining Stanton Chase as a Director in 2006, John has completed searches in the Electronics, Infrastructure/Civil Engineering, and Industrial sectors and has teamed with Stanton Chase Partners in Europe and North America on several Board-level searches. In addition, he developed one of the first Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) initiatives which resulted in over 250 placements globally for Tyco International. The metrics of this program were considered to be world class and the program has run successfully for over 10 years.
John earned a B.S. in Communications and an M.A. in Industrial Relations from the University of Illinois and is a member of the President’s Council. He has served as Chairman of the Valve Manufacturer’s Association Human Resources Committee; member of the Junior Achievement of New Hampshire Board of Directors; Chairman of the Board-Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce and is a graduate of Leadership Seacoast (New Hampshire).
