Competitive Process:
This role, being created for the first time, was designed to provide value added analytical support to all manufacturing plants across several locations of the group in India and internationally. Stanton Chase was involved from the stage of developing the role-specs itself, that in fact geared the pitch for award of the assignment.
The Challenge:
The client's requirements meant that we were looking for an almost impossible candidate with know-how of several diverse manufacturing technologies. This meant expertise in specialities such as process technologies, environment & safety aspects, energy management, product and application development and a whole host of manufacturing issues. The incumbent had to be single point accountable for ensuring that all decisions of manufacturing investments are well thought through and the benefits reaped across the six billion dollar group.
Our Solution:
Our solution was essentially a top-down approach. We started by targeting the top global corporation with chemical and biological manufacturing interests. We found the majority of them were existent in Europe and US. We conducted an international search and awarded the principal research to our Baltimore office, which is a base for a number of chemical companies. Our Baltimore office eventually identified multiple R&D and manufacturing candidates from global fortune companies and motivated them to leave the shores to head for the Indian location.
The Results:
We found two good candidates in the final stage, both heads of manufacturing technology functions of global brand name corporations. Our client decided to hire them both, one as head of manufacturing technology and the other as head of knowledge management.
